Once threatened
by developers, this 100 year-old historic
Moreton Bay Fig tree is the subject of a
rescue mission by Archicentre and The City
of Frankston. Now with an intelligent design
and construction program in place, this
project will serve as an ideal example of
a Year of the Built Environment project.
Two specially-designed
townhouses will be built around the tree
demonstrating innovative construction, environmental
design, and child safety practices. The
aim is simple: to show that houses can be
designed in harmony with the environment,
complementing our natural assets.
Website
features include the fact sheets and a ‘photo
gallery’ which will provide updates on the
project as it proceeds. The Tree House project
is a partnership between Archicentre, Frankston
City Council and Devine Homes. Devine Homes
will build the project at cost with proceeds
going to KidSafe and the Frankston City
Council Environment Fund.
