The Kitchen House

Laminex - Freestyle

Where Used: Kitchen bench tops and splashbacks
Why Used: Freestyle Surfaces sheet material is manufactured from a combination of acrylic resin pigments for colour and aluminatrihydrate (aluminium) as the filler, in a continuous cast forming line, which is the best in world technology.  Due to its construction, it is non-porous and therefore hygienic, with consistent colour throughout the thickness of the sheet, so it is UV stable and stain, acid and fire resistant.  It is ideal for kitchen and bathroom benchtops, counters, reception desks, wall and column cladding, commercial bars and many other vertical and horizontal applications - in particular, where tight or gradual curves are required in the design.  Archicentre loved its look and combined with its durability it was the perfect choice.  Archicentre used the ice colour on the benchtops and for the splashbacks and ice was also used on the island bench, but was illuminated.  We then used Crystal Malt for the island bench vertical panels. Laminex – Cupboard Surfaces

Where Used: Kitchen cupboards
Why Used: To create a stylish, contrasting look in the Mosman Green kitchen, Archicentre chose to use two types of materials for the kitchen cupboards.  Laminex timber veneer was used on the upper cupboards in the kitchen and Black Pearl polyurethane was used on the lower cupboards.  Timber veneered board was used as it is an economical and ecological alternative to solid timber and is more consistent in grain and colour.  Laminex has an enormous range of colours and styles for cupboard surfaces to choose from.

Blum

Where Used: The kitchen
Why Used: There is nothing worse than having a beautiful kitchen with poorly designed storage space, drawers that bang shut, hinges that squeak and runners that rattle.  This is where Blum comes in.  Working with The Kitchen House, Blum gave advice on the best storage solutions and how their hinges, drawer and pull-out systems could help make the Mosman Green kitchen work as well as it looked.

Omega Smeg – Free Standing Cooker

Where Used: Kitchen
Why Used: There is really no need to ask why we used Smeg appliances in Mosman Green.  They are one of the leading suppliers of kitchen appliances and the A11 90cm Free Standing Cooker we chose to use would melt the heart of any aspiring chef or even the maker of everyday meals.  All stainless steel, the cooker is thermosealed allowing larger capacity, lower temperatures and faster cooking.  It’s fully automatic, is self sufficient (i.e. does not require additional fluids to maintain a moist cooking environment), has a rapid burner, spacious six burner design and a removable roof liner and door. And of course it’s self cleaning. For more information visit www.omegasmeg.com.au

Omega Smeg – Rangehood

Where Used: Kitchen (above the free standing cooker)
Why Used: ENC – Energy, Noise and Capacity of air movement are the key consumer concerns that drove Smeg to design the K8399 ENC Rangehood.  It uses up to 70% less energy than traditional motors, is significantly quieter than competing brands and has a much larger capacity.  It also has a delay stopping mechanism and a charcoal filter. Omega Smeg – Dishwasher

Where Used: Kitchen
Why Used: Fully integrated and fully electronic, the Smeg ST693 Dishwasher was our number one choice in the Mosman project.  We loved the fact that its cabinet door can be of the same material; as the rest of the cabinetry, that it is ultra quiet and that it has a discreet push pad and display panel to give it a streamlined approach rather than looking like a piece of machinery with a multitude of buttons and gadgets.    For more information visit www.omegasmeg.com.au

Omega Smeg – Refrigerator/Freezer

Where Used: Kitchen
Why Used: The visual appearance of the silver glass front of this refrigerator/freezer sold us from the word go so much so that the actual benefits of the product were seen as being an added bonus!  A key feature is its LCD display which has optical sensors to perform an energy conserving sleep mode.  Its internal capacity is designed to maximise the space available and for practicality.  The fridge has a child lock function and multi-cooling capabilities for each level.  It’s also extremely quiet. Omega Smeg – Microwave, Grill, Convection, Combination Oven

Where Used: Kitchen
Why Used: Not just a microwave, the SA987CX from Omega Smeg is also a grill, convection and combination oven.  The stainless steel interior includes three concave impressions in the left wall opposite the magnetron energy source in the upper right wall which improves the reflective and refractive penetration of microwave energy to ensure a three dimensional evenness and efficiency in heating, cooking and defrosting.    For more information visit www.omegasmeg.com.au

Laminex - Squareform

Where Used: Laundry benchtop
Why Used: Laundry surfaces need to be tough and that’s why we chose to use Laminex Squareform benchtops.  It is a laminated benchtop produced to a thickness of 39mm and incorporates a square-moulded edge to convey a square look.  The benchtops are covered with a high pressure laminate to provide a hard surface that is resistant against normal wear and scratching.  The use of a moisture resistant quality particleboard ensures its structural integrity and added protection against high humidity or occasional wetting.  For more information visit www.laminex.com.au
