Mosman based Architect Stephen Petrie has won
the competition to renovate a run-down, single storey
cottage on Sydney's North Shore in Mosman which will
become a national focus of an environmental
architectural project being conducted by Archicentre,
the building advisory service of the Royal Australian
Institute of Architects.
Thirty-one submissions and designs were received
from Archicentre Architects in New South Wales.
The winning design was announced yesterday by the
New South Wales Government Architect Chris Johnson
at an official launch.

Speaking at the launch Mr Johnson said, "The
innovative project to design and build an environmental
renovation to promote and showcase best practice in
sustainable housing design, environmental building
products and master planning of renovations is timely
as it coincides with the State Government's move
towards more sustainable housing."
"The importance of this showcase provides an
invaluable demonstration to the public of practical
features and benefits in sustainability for home owners
and renovators."

Mr Johnson said that Archicentre's extensive website
provides local government and the general community
with an important educational vehicle in relation to
encouraging good design and managing a project.
