Mosman Green, the Archicentre benchmark environmental renovation project at Mosman was officially opened by the New South Wales Director of Urban Renewal, Chris Johnston by demonstrating the painting of EccoTherm paint instead of cutting the traditional ribbon. Mr David Lawrence, State Manager of Archicentre NSW & ACT said: "EccoTherm paint is a radiant heat efficient paint reflecting 30% of radiant heat, compared to only 5% offered by standard paints. "The EccoTherm paint works by altering the spectral properties of the surface material without affecting its appearance to create higher thermal comfort and achieve energy savings in heating and cooling. "EccoTherm paint reflects radiant heat back into a room during winter and reverses this radiant barrier effect in summer by keeping the heat out." Mr Lawrence said that the EccoTherm Paint is just one of the environmental innovations in the renovation which also features a 30,000 litre underground water storage system to run the home using mains water just for top up.
