Consumer awareness is the focus of a series of seminars on Sustainability being run by Archicentre, the building advisory service of the Australian Institute of Architects beginning in February.
Bookings are necessary for the seminars which provide consumers with practical information and strategies, and an opportunity to ask questions and join in discussions.

experience in energy efficient and sustainable domestic design. The seminar

experience in energy efficient and sustainable domestic design. The seminar
will canvas both the energy supply and effective energy use opportunities, by
integrating these systems into holistic design. Systems covered will include
renewable energy supply, passive and low energy use in comfort conditioning,
lighting, appliances. The result is quality living at low running costs.

Sustainable Homes - Water
Presenter Emilis Prelgauskas is an architect and also is an energy and sustainability
assessor, with over 30 years practical experience and papers published nationally
& internationally. The seminar will cover the water cycle from supply and capture
through use, treatment and re-use. Systems included will be compost toilets,
reed beds and evapo-transpiration. The result is quality living with certainty
of supply and low waste impact on the environment.

Alternative & Sustainable Architecture
Presenter Bohdan Dorniak is an award winning architect with more than 30 years
experience in energy efficient and sustainable domestic design; alternative
construction (straw bails). The seminar will cover the different sustainable
materials and how they are used in the construction of homes for more energy
efficient and sustainable environment. Alternative materials to traditional
to traditional will also be explored to give the end user options.
