As
part of its commitment to the Year of the Built Environment
2004, Archicentre is undertaking a major renovation project of
two 100 year old historic terraces in Carlton, Melbourne.
The project
valued at $1.3 million will be used to demonstrate best practice
in sustainable residential renovation.
A special

Make
sure you do it right and don't devalue your home with a
poorly designed renovation.
By
the way you are looking at an illegal toilet which has been
installed directly off the kitchen.

| And
talking of the kitchen - pictured below - previously someone
just removed the back door, attached a few sheets of tile
board directly onto the side fence and installed a quick fibreglass
roof on above.
Let
us tell you we have the only kitchen wall that waves in
the wind during a storm.

Federal
Minister for the Environment and Heritage, Dr David Kemp,
said a key focus of the Year of the Built Environment 2004
was to encourage development of a built environment which
is sustainable, energy efficient, safe, healthy and comfortable.
"The
aim is to help us appreciate how the structures, buildings
and streetscapes which form our built environment make a
difference to our quality of life, and to contribute to
creating the kind of environment we want for ourselves,
our children and future generations."
