Archicentre Board Members

Robyn StewartChairman – ROBYN STEWART FAPI, FAICD

Robyn has extensive experience in corporate real estate, asset management, facilities management, valuations, property development, infrastructure projects, project management and urban planning.  

She is a valuer, land economist, real estate agent, and as a fellow member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors she brings strong corporate governance skills to the Board.

She serves on a number of Boards, and, in addition to Archicentre, she is currently on the Boards of Kangan Institute and the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport. Her past Directorships include Southern Cross Station Authority, Gippsland Ports, the Building Practitioners Board, Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd, Melbourne Wholesale Fish Market Pty Ltd, Riviera Properties Limited.

She was previously Global Head of Property ANZ Bank, previously a Director of Jones Lang Wootton and Colliers Jardine, is a past President of the Australian Property Institute and past Regional Chair of Corenet Global.

David ParkenDAVID PARKEN – LFRAIA Reg. Architect

Architect, advocate and former National President, David Parken is the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Architects (the Institute). The Institute is the peak body for the architectural profession, representing more than 9000 members across Australia and overseas.

David is a Life Fellow of the Institute and a respected member of the architectural profession, having gained more than 20 years’ experience as a practicing architect and 14 years as a principal of Adelaide firm Jackman Parken Evans Pty Ltd.

At an organisational level, David has been actively involved in the Institute from chapter committee level to national president over the past 10 years, having served five years on National Council and four years on Executive, giving him a thorough knowledge of the Institute's business and its operations. For the past eight years he has also served as a Director of the Institute’s associated publishing company Architecture Media and more recently as a Director of Insurance Brokers (IBL) Limited and Archicentre which are both wholly owned by the Institute.

In 2004 David was Chair of the National Steering Committee for the “Year of the Built Environment” and collaborated with the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) and Property Council of Australia (PCA) to hold a National Industry forum called “Youthquake” for young professionals from across the whole industry to envisage the Built Environment in 2050.

At an industry level, David has been actively involved as a member of the Australian Construction Industry Forum, Director of the Australian Services Roundtable, Executive member of Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC) and currently chairs the ASBEC Climate Change Task Group.  He has also worked collaboratively with PIA, PCA, the Green Building Council and the Association of Consulting Engineers Australia on a range of projects including the Built Environment Meets Parliament event in Canberra. His work for the Institute has been acknowledged internationally. In 2003, he was presented with the American Institute of Architects Presidents Medal and was honoured as a Honorary Member of the AIA. In 2004 he received an Honorary Fellowship of the New Zealand Institute of Architects.

David is an advocate for Architecture, Design and Sustainability and last year arranged an International call for Action from Architects in the lead up to the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit which was endorsed internationally by the Royal British Institute of Architects, Architecture Canada and the Commonwealth Association of Architects.

Keith RogersKEITH ROGERS

Keith was co founder and Managing Director of WRM Marketing Group. WRM involved with the marketing and Licensing of many major brands and organisations including the Advance Australia Campaign, The Australian Bi-Centenary, Americas Cup and the Boxing Kangaroo. WRM was floated on the stock exchange in 1998 and expanded Internationally. 

More recently Keith was co founder and managing Director of Execon P/L. Execon was involved in the implementation of new company identities and branding. Notable re image projects included Telstra, Centrelink, Holden, Caltex, Sydney Olympics and Melbourne Water.

Keith retired in 2006 and became a director of Archicentre in 2007.

Catherine TownsendCATHERINE TOWNSEND – B ARCH FRAIA Reg. Architect

Catherine Townsend is a founding director of the Canberra based company, Townsend + Associates Architects. The firm has been nationally recognised for work in single residential, multi-unit residential and commercial architecture.

Catherine is a past President of the ACT Chapter of the Institute of Architects and has served on numerous Government special interest panels and architectural juries.  She maintains involvement in the broader issues of practice, legislation and regulation through ongoing work with the AIA and the ACT Architect’s Registration Board.

She also lectures at the University of Canberra, is a contributor to architectural publications and has qualified as an Archicentre Accredited Architect.

In 2006 Catherine received the RAIA President's Award, recognising her outstanding contribution in the architectural field and to the built environment.

Brian ZulaikhaBRIAN ZULAIKHA -  FRAIA Reg. Architect

Brian Zulaikha is a founding partner of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and practices architecture in NSW.  Brian’s early architectural career was supported by his involvement as an Archicentre Certified Architect.

Brian’s committed to environmentally sustainable design and has undertaken several projects specifically associated with the principals of environmentally sustainable design such as the award winning Affordable Housing Compile in Ultimo, Brian’s own house, completed in early 2007, won the RAIA National Award for Residential Architecture (Houses).

Elaine FarrellyELAINE FARRELLY 

Elaine has executive level experience across the telecommunications, media, property development, manufacturing and not for profit sectors and currently runs her own business providing Financial Consultancy and Professional Writing services. She is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years’ experience at international corporations including KPMG, Optus, ICI (now Orica)and Fairfax. Elaine holds a Bachelor of Commerce, and is completing a Master of Communications. Elaine also serves as the Chairman of Movember and its international boards in the USA, Canada and Europe.
